This project explored what we value. I took tiny fleeting everyday moments that we most probably rush through and blew them up into large energetic paintings, making them a new focal point to celebrate. I chose to use materials that were specifically not archival, the painting like the moment will not last forever. It could be treasured, protected and kept as best it can but inevitably it will gradually degrade away, like moments in our life. My piece could be seen as scruffy and cheap as not even the student acrylic paint is seen as 'quality' but who decides what we value and why?
